The University of Minnesota Medical School opened its St. Cloud campus in the fall of 2025 with a class of 24 students — the school’s first expansion anywhere in more than fifty years.

I worked with our House members to secure $15 million in state funding to make it happen, in partnership with CentraCare. Students who train in a community tend to stay in it, which is how a region with a doctor shortage starts to fix one.
