Our Community Deserves Nice Things

Our community is a pretty nice place. And it’s the people here that make it that way. My job is to provide us and our neighborhoods with the resources they need to thrive. Over these last six years I’m proud to have done that work.

Local Results

  • New Medical School: I got $13,000,000 to build a new Medical School right here and to bring the next generation of medical professionals to our community.
  • Ambulance Bay and the Health Sciences career track at Apollo High School: I helped build an Ambulance Bay at Apollo High School so students can graduate with the skills needed for dignified, good paying jobs, in the Health Sciences field. 
  • Fifth Avenue Renovation: For too long downtown and St. Cloud State University has felt disconnected. By revitalizing 5th Ave and connecting these two pillars of our community I fixed that.
  • New St. Cloud Riverwalk: We have a beautiful natural landscape here along the Mississippi. I was able to secure funding to build a new riverwalk along our river. This is good for the Earth and for our neighborhoods.
  • $12,000,000 to sustain and revitalize the SCSU Hockey Center
  • $7,000,000 for our incredible Children’s Museum (seriously, go check it out!)
  • $500,000 for Workforce Development for survivors of trafficking and domestic violence
  • Funding for the Husky Food Pantry at SCSU through the Hunger Free Campus Act
  • Helped with bonding dollars to improve the Ledge Amphitheater and Saint Cloud Airport
  • $4,000,000 to improve Saint Cloud’s water treatment plant

State Wide Accomplishments

  • Establishing the Office of the Inspector General to stop fraud
  • Modernized the technology used by our county professionals to make their jobs easier and to cut back on fraud and errors in processing services
  • Changed how the Department of Agriculture and the Department of Veterans Affairs process grants to eliminate fraud
  • Cut the tax on social security benefits by $1.2 billion
  • Created a Meals on Wheels program for Veterans in Greater Minnesota
  • Dedicated $40,000,000 to Minnesota Veterans Homes to serve our ill and aging veterans
  • $300,000,000 for local public safety aid, including $3 million for Saint Cloud and almost $1 million for Waite Park police departments
  • $125,000,000 in Property Tax Relief
  • Passed the Beginning Farmer Tax credit that helps new farmers farm and seasoned farmers pass their farms to the next generation
