Serve the veterans who served us
I am from a military family. I am who I am today because of people who served in the armed forces — including my grandfather, a chaplain in World War Two at the Battle of the Bulge, and my father, a Vietnam veteran.
Military service runs deep in my family, but you don’t need to be from a military family to respect veterans and know that their sacrifices should be honored.
As our State Senator, I have
- Chief authored the bill that delivered the largest investment in Minnesota’s veterans and military affairs in state history
- Secured $300,000 to create a Meals on Wheels program for veterans in Greater Minnesota
- Supported programs that help veterans transition from the military to education and promising careers
- Reduced the cost of hunting, trapping, and fishing licenses for disabled veterans
- Improved the homestead market value exclusion for disabled veterans and authored bills to expand it
- Dedicated $40,000,000 to Minnesota Veterans Homes to serve our ill and aging veterans
- Authored a resolution to commit to and expand the VA’s Vet Centers in Minnesota, which give veterans and their families better access to mental and physical health care, help them manage readjustment after combat, and help reduce veteran suicide and homelessness
