Supporting Minnesota’s agriculture heritage

Minnesota has a rich agricultural history and it continues to be a key part of our state’s economy, but federal policies and a lack of understanding from folks in charge are making it harder every day for our state’s farmers to stay in business.

I have made it a priority to visit farms across Minnesota and lift up the voices of those working to put food on all of our tables.

As our State Senator, I have

Visited more than 100 Minnesota farms during my time chairing the Senate’s Agriculture, Veterans, Broadband, and Rural Development Committee
Created the state’s first grain indemnity fund to protect producers if an elevator fails
Increased the first-tier market value limit for ag homestead property by more than $1 million, providing an average property tax savings of $2,400
Expanded the Beginning Farmer Tax Credit in 2023 and removed the credit cap for 2026
Increased and expanded the state’s Sustainable Aviation Fuel tax credit
Passed $85 million in emergency funding to the state’s food shelves
Secured more than $5 million for Minnesota’s Farm-to-School Program
Supported farmers fighting High Path Avian Influenza and funded innovations like turkey lasers
Passed more than $1.5 million for downpayment assistance grants to address the barrier of land access for young farmers in the state
Dedicated $3 million for payments to small and medium dairy operations to cover shortfalls in USDA’s Dairy Margin Coverage Program
