Responsible tax relief
Even though we didn’t cause the rising cost of living, we can try to make it hurt less and keep more money in the pockets of families, seniors, and small businesses. That means targeted tax cuts and investments that help families, seniors, businesses, and working Minnesotans succeed.
As our State Senator, I have
- Authored and passed the bill that eliminated the tax on Social Security benefits for more than 80% of Minnesotans
- Secured nearly $1 billion in property tax relief — including the 15% increase in homeowner property tax refunds this year
- Helped craft the largest tax cut in state history — $3 billion in savings for middle- and lower-income Minnesota families and seniors in 2023
- Passed the nation-leading Minnesota Child Tax Credit that is saving families up to $1,750 per kid and reducing childhood poverty in Minnesota
- Lobbied to reduce Minnesota’s first-tier income tax rate
- Took initiative by being the only DFL author of the bill to repay the unemployment trust fund deficit, saving the program that protects workers and making sure taxes on our small businesses didn’t increase
Secured nearly $1 billion in property tax relief.
